Lion In a Zoo by Dillion David-Malave

An Allegory is a story that is told using symbolic characters that represent real life situations.  Examples include the books like Animal Farm an allegory about the Russian Bolshevik revolution, comic book characters like Wolverine representing soldiers with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and movies like The Matrix that features many Biblical and religious references.  Below is an allegory written by one of your peers.
After reading the short story decide what situation this allegory represents and who you think the Lion and the bars are.

I am a Lion in a zoo.  The bars mock me everyday knowing that I can't come part them.  These bars believe they can contain me.  They don't realize I can think for my-self.  If I get set free I believe I will be something great.
I feel I am here for their entertainment.  They don't take me seriously.  These bars hold me back.  They don't understand that I am still a lion.

i believe the lion represents a person and the bars represent any person or situation that can get in the way of the lion's potential while forgetting all that the lion is capable of.

  11. I think that the bars are the trainers of where ever the lion is, because the lion wishes it could be set free and the only one who can free the lion are the owners.

I think the lion represents anyone who feels trapped or is having problems and hardships in their life. They can't be themselves and show who they really are. There is something causing the problems or something that is holding them back, which is what the bars represent.

I think that the allegory is someone getting held back and not given freedom or respect from their elders. Like a child feels when their parents dont give them freedom or feels like their holding them back from doing things just because they want to.

I think the situation that this allegory represents is about when people don't get the respect they deserve or want they need because some people aren't taking them seriously while laughing and teasing them. For example, a person might feel the same as this situation because he/she's friends might joke around with them about something serious going on with that person.

  17. From This I Think that A lion at the zoo feels trapped and feels like he doesnt deserve that and that animals need freedom also. But he is also (the author) refering to his life feeling trapped like he cant escape and needs freedom.

I think the lion is someone who did a bad mistake and he wanted to come out and change his life. The bars are like police. Tha lion's one mistake is holding him back alot.

  23. I think that the bars are some kind of larger more powerful person than the lion I think that the lion is a little kid who is being pushed around by the bars. He wants to speak for himself but is scared of what might happen if he does

---The lion might be representing a person who has a problem but doesnt know how to face it .
the lion is behind bars and is thinking why he is there and why he cant get out and when we have problems like that we dont know how to face them

The situation represented in this allegory is someone that isn't very comfortable with how he/she is feeling. The lion represents those who have a hard time fitting in or being taken seriously. The bars represent all of society such as friends and the media.
