I never used to pay much attention to what was happening outside the car window. The route to school was nothing but a blurred cruise through suburbia, one splattered with blotches of vegetation, rushing vehicles, and the sun’s glaring reflection on the windshield.

At night, streetlights danced and multiplied, darting through the sky. Masses of granite or brick bulged out of the darkness, suddenly caught by the headlights. Forms swayed in the shadows, forests were cloaked in darkness, only the faint network of branches remained visible. Hazy fields of stars held up the rising moon and its nimbus. The night was constantly in motion.

Over time, my smeared vision began to prevent me from reading numbers on the whiteboard. Thanks to my squinting and my sluggish reading pace, I was sent to an eye doctor. Two appointments later, I had a prescription.

It was winter when I got my contact lenses, and I shielded my eyes as I walked to the car – through scintillating, blinding snowdrifts. Once in the car, I allowed my eyes to recover from the barrage of light. With the car rolling away and sunglasses cooling my sensitive pupils, I took my first look at the new world.

Tree limbs burned amber in the morning light, branching out like cobwebs against the crisp and cloudless sky. Hills and buildings leapt out of the background, with borders sharp enough to slice through ice. There was no sound, only the jagged, perfect landscape.

I felt the chill of precision, of focus. I saw dust particles fluttering through the steaming beam of a projector. On computer screens, which used to be composed of a flat jumble of black and white text, bold letters carved their proper places in sentences. Assertive punctuation connected it all. Life was coming alive in front of me – line by line, corner by corner.

Later, with the cold smothering the day’s excitement, and my breath showing against the tenebrous night, I gazed skyward. No longer dim smudges, but radiant specks sprinkled across the sky, the stars blazed. In their flickering stillness, they conveyed a sense of the infinite.

  3. Title; Old Sight New Vision.
This title made sense to me because, the person couldn't see things cleary and they had to struggle with their sight. Finally that person went to the doctor, got contacts, and now they are able to see things cleary than before like a new vision.

  7. Title:New things....New life

I Think it should be called this because its talks a lot about how things are created and how the person learns new things.

  8. Title: New Eyes
I think it should be called this because at first looking through the car window the world was a bit of a blur. Then the person got glasses/ contact lens and could see more clearly through the car window.

Title: The rebirth of my eyes

I would call it this title because when the narrator got contacts she explains the new world through her eyes like as if they had just been reborn

  10. Title: "I took my first look at the new world"

I think this memior should be titled this because before the person got glasses they didnt see the world the way he sees it with his new glasses.

  11. sense of the infinite

I think it should be called sense of the infinite because she said "I felt the chill of precision." So she felt different. think it was a different sense.

  13. title: The World I Didn't See
I think the title should be "the world i didnt see" because at first the world was blurry to the author and she/he didn't often look out the window of the car then she/he got a prescripton then they saw everything and the world was clear and it could see everything even the dust molts in the headlights. and since she/he could see better they looked out the window more so then they saw the world as they didn't see it before

    Title: Something Else

-I think the title should be Something Else because before the woman did not see much because her vision was blurry but now she is looking at something else because she can see better since her vision has improved.

  15. Title: Life finally getting to me

    Title:A new life
I think "A new life" would be the best title because in the memoir its talking about how the person couldn't see very well first and then when she got contacts she could see everything and it was like a new life. She could finally see everything and how everything was and it was a start to a new life for her.

  17. Title:My Town, Through my eyes
I selected this title because the author just talks about what he sees out his car window and how it is a blur because he never paid attention to it so he is looking at his town and the things in it but it is how he sees it.

  20. The Title-
    Life In Different eyes

At first the author couldn't see clearly of what was happening around her, like in the text it says "The route to school was nothing but a blurred cruise through suburbia," which means her vision is blurred. Towards the end she states that she will be getting lenses. When she got them the world was a whole new world with her new eyes.

  21. New Sights With Old Eyes

The author at the beginning of the story could not see clearly because of their blurred vision. When they got their contacts they saw the world in a way they had never seen before. Their old eyes seeing things more clearly like the things during their car ride.

    The Clear World

I named the memoir like this because in the text it says that she had smeared vision and it was hard for him/her to see. Then the he/she starts to see dust particles, which means that he/she looks clear

  23. Title: All Things Revealed
This title fits the story because in the beginning of the story, the author could see but not as clearly as he/she should have been able to see. Once the author got contacts, he/she could see just like everyone else and everything was revealed to the author in a whole new way;a clearer way. One example of this is that the things outside the window during his car ride were revealed to him in a whole new way so that he could see them better.

    Title: Clearer

I gave the title Clearer to this memoir because he could barely see without glasses and when he got them everything was all clear and fine.

  26. Title: Visions

I picked this title because in this article the author is talking about how she used to see things differently then she does now

    ReplyDelete
  27. Title: Coming Alive

I picked this title because the story is about how the author didn't really pay attention to the world, but there is a reason why he didn't. It's because he couldn't see it. And in the story the author says "Life is coming alive around me-" That is where i got the title from. Now the author can see life clearly.

    Title: A Blury New World

I chose this title because the author talks about how he/she seen a blury world outside their car, and couldn't see well. After they went to the eye doctor, he/she has been able to see the new world outside his car, and was able to see well.

Title: The World as I See It

I would title the memoir this because it is talking about seeing things and using your eyes a lot. The narrator couldn't see without the contacts, and that is the way they saw the world. Everything was blurry and hard to see. But once they got contacts, they could see things and they could see details better. They see the world differently. This title would work because the memoir is all about how the author sees things.

  30. I would title this "Looking at the world with fresh eyes" because at first it talks about how she never payed attention to what she saw. Then when contacts helped her vision more she started to pay more attention to the things she saw in her surroundings.

  31. Title: The World Becomes Clear
I would choose this title because at first, before she gets her contacts, everything is a blur, as apposed to clear, as it is after her contacts are put to use. It is also a title that at least makes you want to skim and find out what it is about. Is it about the futility of life? Or is it something more literal? You must read it to find out.

Tiltle: A New World Seen By My Eyes
I pick this title because in the passage it is talking about how everything is a blur at first and then when he gets his eyes fixed he sees the world in a different way. In the passage it says, "Thanks to my squinting and my sluggish reading pace, I was sent to an eye doctor.", that tells me that he could not see well and needed his eyes to get better which it did as he explained in the passage.

    Title: A Whole New World

I chose this title because the boy at first viewed the world in one way before he got the contact lenses. After he got them he said he payed attention outside the window for the first time. The way he saw everything wasnt as blurry as before.

The title should be "A Better View" because the author of the passage says that before she got her contacts "the route to school was nothing but a blurred cruise through suburbia", and "Thanks to my squinting and my sluggish reading pace."
But then after, she sees things much better: "Life was coming alive in front of me – line by line, corner by corner."

  42. I whould name it "it's great to see" because he talking about what he sees with his contacts

  43. The title should be " A new view" because the character in the story had always been used to seeing blurrs and unclear objtects as he rides in the car, until he gets a perscription to see the world as it should be with images that are clear and normal.
    ELIZABETH GILMORE

  44. the new title should be "my visions on my perspective" because he sees how the world is when he looks at it. His view shows how he sees night and day in his own eyes and not someone elses.
